Daily Journal Continued May 10,1998, By-William Thomas Thompson MY WONDERFUL MOTHER STILL BRIGHTENS MY WAY1 Today is Mothers Day Sunday all over the United States of This America wherein I was born and live. My Mother is coming to see me today with my dear sister Nell Thompson Adams, the school teac- her who now corrects my daily journal. My Mother has no phone in her part of the house. Its not that she cannot afford it,its that my younger sister Judy will not allow her to have one as this would give her less control over our Mother. We no longer meet there at the home place for special days as it has become very possible a burden on some but not on my Mother who bore me into this world and cared for me when I was so often sick and cooked for me the greatest food on earth and never ever complained. (I pray for the peace of God as Mother has in her life) My Mothers smile is like made in Heaven and she never is angry. She mentions my sister Betty every visit and tells me how much she misses her. She loves us all and ask about every family member every visit. She is my Mother and I love and appreciate her with all my heart. Mother attended Winthrop College at Rock Hill South Carolina,A state college, and became a school teacher before applying for a job at Double Springs Elementary School at Route 2,Taylors,S.C. where my Father Lawrence Edwin Thompson was trustee and not only hired her but married her as well. Otherwise we 5 kids would not have gotten into this world. Our Aunt Maggie lived with us or us with her in those days, she raised my Father after his mother died at age 7 and his father at age 12. Our Miss Maggie helped with everything around the house and on the farm. She was like a second mother to us and she always was very fair. She would eat the back of the chicken, the worse peice so we could all have a good peice to eat. The family would never kill but one chicken just for the family even sometimes when the preacher came only on Sunday did we have chicken. In Summer we would churn home made ice cream in the milkhouse before church time and I was the lucky one appointed to turn the freezer for 45 minutes before I could lick the dasher. It was the very best in all the world. (My Mother is always forgiving unconditionally, may I also be) Today we had lunch at Embassy Suits Hotel Buffet special Mothers Day spread and we drove through heavy rain to get there with lightning flashing and thunder roaring awful, the dog was afraid when we left to go there for an invited meal and our son-in-law actually paid for it I think,There may be hope after all in time. (Mother came at 3 P.M.and it is so great to be with her.) Women world over are fighting for their rights. We see the awful stories coming out of Iran even about a mother with no rights to keep their children from a father who murdered his 6 year daught- er and it was/is not illegal. This is one of millions especially in a heathen religion that the one world(would be)church, okays as being equal before God,whom ever they serve. We must stand for principle and morals above all and if we do,we must recognize the unborn as human beings with a living soul. Why did politicians and preachers let things get in such a mess of hell bound people? "We are not our own,We are bought with a price, the blood of Jesus Christ purchased our salvation" We have no free will of our own to choose life or death for ourself or others, especially babies.
